Welcome to the concept of Classical mechanics.

Acceleration

the rate of change of velocity of an object is called acceleration of the object.

let v and v' be the velocity of the object at time t and t' ,then acceleration of the body is given by

acceleration = (change \: in \: velocity  ) \div time \: interval

=( v' - v )/ (t' - t)

Acceleration

  • it is a vector quantity.
  • it is positive if the velocity is increasing and is negative if velocity is decreasing.
  • SI unit : m/s^2
