acid is a chemical substance that donates hydrogen ions or accepts electrons. Most acids contain hydrogen atom bonded that can release to yield a cation and anion in water. The higher the concentration of hydrogen ions produced by an acid, the higher its acidity and lower the pH of solution.
example: hydrochloric acid, sulphuric acid, acetic acid etc
