Pollutants like sulphur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide liberated into the air by industries reacts with water vapour in air to form sulphuric acid and nitric acid. These acids come down as rain, called acid rain ️⛱️

We know that marble is made up of calcium carbonate. And when acid present in rain reacts with calcium carbonate, this results in the corrosion. And this is known as Marble cancer.
