It can have harmful effects on plants, aquatic animals and infrastructure. Acid rain is caused by emissions of sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide, which react with the water molecules in the atmosphere to produce acids.

acid rain is caused due to the pollution . basically the nitrogen and sulphur gas produced is suspended in the atmosphere and when it comes in the contact with the water vapour present in the atmosphere it form nitrogen and sulphur dioxides (these are oxides of non metals which are basic in nature) and when the rain comes in contact with it , it becomes acidic.

It's harms can be seen on monuments crops and sometimes on humans too...
