Aldosterone is a Mineralocorticoid: a class of drugs which greatly effect the levels of sodium, potassium, and water levels within the human body. (But you knew that)
The phenomenon known as “aldosterone escape” is a counterbalance of two bodily actions.
The presence of excess Aldosterone results in the excessive/great removal of sodium from the body by forcing the kidneys to process large amounts of waste and by urinating at high volumes to deplete the body of salt (I understand why you may be confused as to why hypertension is cause of lower sodium levels)
Drugs that are prescribed to individuals that have Hypertension (ACE inhibitors)- usually those with high sodium and water retention levels- are not reliably able to suppress the Aldosterone release.
Now, Hypertesnion results in a process which removes water and salt due to the same principle as Diabetes:
After repeated abuse of the pituitary gland with high fat, sugar, and carb diets, the system erodes and results in a body which is unable to maintain its blood sugar in at both extremes of low and high.
So, Hypertension is a prerequisite to Aldosterone Escape as initially, high levels of aldosterone initially cause the reabsorción of sodium in the body, lower ones able to maintain homeostasis. This results in the may-day alert in the Kidneys which inmediaty wish to flush out the Na+ in excess at the ions channels. However, this reaction by the body is temporary and soon tolerates the levels of Aldosterone.

Explanation:
Abstract. Context: Aldosterone levels increase during the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle. ... Results: In high-sodium balance, urinary aldosterone, basal serum aldosterone, and serum aldosterone response to infused AngII were significantly greater (P < 0.05) in the luteal vs. follicular phase.
