Amnesty International is a non-governmental organization of London that lays emphasis on human rights.

The mission of Amnesty is to strive for "a world in which every person enjoys all of the human rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international human rights instruments."

It was founded in 1961 in London, after the article "The Forgotten Prisoners" was published in "The Observer" in May 1961 by a lawyer, Peter Benenson. Amnesty tries to draw attention towards human rights abuses and its campaigns to abide by international laws and defined standards.

The organization has more than seven million members and supporters throughout the world.

It gathered information regarding Guantanamo that prisoners over there were not being provided there rights and even US laws were not being followed for them.

Families of these prisoners were not allowed to meet them.

Prisoners were not released even after being pronounced 'not guilty'.

The prisoners were not treated as per international treaties due to which many prisoners went on a hunger strike.
