Answer. An amphoteric compound is a molecule or ion that can react both as an acid as well as a base. Many metals form amphoteric oxides or hydroxides.

such as: Al2O3 and ZnO

Amphoteric oxides are the ones which behaves like acid in the presence of base and act like base in the presence of acid.

Examples Aluminium Oxide.....
