Amphoteric oxides are those oxides who react with acids as well as bases to give salt and water.

Eg. Pb2O3 , ZnO

ZnO + 2HCl -> ZnCl2 + H2O

ZnO + 2NaOH -> Na2ZnO2 + 2H2O

Na2ZnO2 is a complex salt called Sodium Zincate.
