Abacus is simply a counting tool which was used for calculations (including addition , subtraction, multiplication , division.)
The exact date of its invention is not known but it is said that it was first used by people in parts of Asia, Europe, China & Russia before the Hindu- Arabic numeral system was adopted.
Still abacus today plays an important role in brain development of young minds. It was the basic idea for calculator & with Pascal's calculator, it ultimately , the computers came into existence.
