An acid is a substance from which a proton (H+ ion) can be removed. Essentially, an acid donates protons to bases.
A base is a substance to which a proton (H+) can be added. Essentially, a base accepts protons from acids.
An acid is a substance that accepts a lone pair of electrons.
An acid is a substance which dissociates in water to produce one or more hydrogen ions (H+).
ACID:-Chemicals or substances having the property of an acid are said to be acidic.
The definition of an acid is ; substance that can give protons
(1) Strong acids are very corrosive and cause severe skin burns, examples are hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, and sulfuric acid. Also called mineralor inorganic acids.
(2) Weak acids are mildly corrosive and normally do not affect skin, examples are acetic acid (vinegar), citric acid (citrus fruit juice acid), and tartaric acid (used in making mayonnaise). Also called natural or organic acids.
