alpha carbon is the first carbon atom that attaches to a functional group such as carbonyl
EG: Br-ch2-ch2-ch2-ch3
in this the carbon besides bromo group is alpha carbon
hydrogen atom connected to the alpha carbon is known as alpha hydrogen
EG: Br-ch2-ch2-ch2-ch3
in this the hydrogen with alpha carbon is called alpha hydrogen
EG: Br-ch2-ch2-ch2-ch3
in this the carbon besides bromo group is alpha carbon
hydrogen atom connected to the alpha carbon is known as alpha hydrogen
EG: Br-ch2-ch2-ch2-ch3
in this the hydrogen with alpha carbon is called alpha hydrogen
