Atom is the smallest unit of matter .. everything which occupies space and has mass. .is called matter ...atoms have protons, neutrons and electrons. protons are positively charged, neutrons are neutral and electrons are negatively charged particles . the no.of protons should be equal to that of electrons to make an atom stable.if there is imbalance then..the atom becomes reactive..and tend to remain stable.. that's why they interact to share electrons as only electrons can be transferred , to make it stable... another important thing to remember is that..protons reside inside the nucleus and electrons move on their orbital path..
