Its a mathematically defined region of spacetime that exerts a strong gravitational pull so much so that even radiations (electromagnetic) cannot escape from it .If the earth comes near it, it would swallow the earth completely.It is said to have formed when massive stars collapse at the end of their life cycle and the keep on growing by absorbing matter from its surroundings.

Black Hole is a great place in the space whose inside is completely black and its gravity is too strong to even pull a beam of sunlight in it. As the light passes through it the pull of it makes the light to enter into it where it is dissolved and so black holes are black. If it comes near Earth then it can pull in Earth also as its gravitational pull is more than that of Earth. A Black Hole can even suck time.
