ester is nothing but it is formed when we make reaction with alcohol and an acid.when we mix ethanol and ehanoic acid we get ester.it is a chemical with sweet smell that is why we get perfumes and other fragrances mixed with ester.the reaction is:
                                                     acid
CH3COOH + CH3CH2OH ---------------->CH3COCH2CH3
                                                                              11(double bond)
                                                                               O
