materials required ; because, water, testing, ethanol and ethanoic acid, concentrated sulphuric acid .
Procedure;
take 2 ml of Ethanol in a test tube
add 2 ml of ethanoic acid into it
add few drops of concentrated sulfuric acid
warm in a beaker containing water
observe the smell of the products formed
Observation : pleasant fruity smelling compound ester is formed
Conclusion: carboxylic acid reacts with alcohol in presence of concentrated H2SO4 which act as a dehydrating agent to form esters....
