Extended source of light is thar source which has many point-sized sources so coherently placed, that distinguishing them is not possible.
Eg. A galaxy, say Milky Way Galaxy has many point sources i. e. stars.
Localised sources of light are those point-sized sources of light which are indistinguishable, if are a part of an extended source.
Eg. A single star, say our Sun, when seen from far, far away would be lost in the extended source i. e. the Milky Way Galaxy.
