It is defined as the tendency of atoms of different element to acquire eight ( 8 ) electrons in their outer most shell.

The constitutes a structure of maximum stability or minimum energy can occur in two ways :

a. By complete transfer of electron that is called electrovalent bond or ionic bond.

b. By sharing electrons and called covalent bond.
