rowlatt act,also known as black act, was passed in feb. 1919 by the legislature council of british india. this act allowed certain political cases to be tried without juries and permitted internment of suspects without trial.

Rowlatt act was an Act that were introduced in the Central Legislature in February , 1919 and the Act was passed on March the same year.

The Act allowed the Government to imprison any person without trial in court and without warranty.

This was done to curb the growing upsurge in the country.
