ANSWER 1 : If the striker flicked misses the coin, It would go in the same direction towards which it was initially flicked to, There would be no change in the direction of the striker until in finally comes to rest.


ANSWER 2 : If the striker hits the coin, There appears to be two cases

CASE 1: If during the collision, the center of striker and the center of coin are in the same line of action then the striker moves in the reverse direction and coin moves forward. {If mass of both striker and coin are same, then the striker may come to rest, putting the coin in motion}

CASE 2: If during the collision, the center of striker and the center of coin are in the different line of action then the striker would move straight forward to a side.


NOTE:

The above scenario is on the basis of "conservation of momentum".
