ntibiotics treat bacteria. Bacterial metabolisms and biochemistry are sufficiently different to our own that it is possible to find chemicals that are far more harmful to bacteria than they are to us.

Viruses are parasites of our own cells translational (protein making) machinery, our own infected cells are a stage in the viral life cycle, chemicals that would kill those cells would tend to kill any of our cells. There are far fewer antivirals because it is hard to find things that work on the tiny differences between a healthy cell and one infected by a virus.
