I completely agree with the poet on his views expressed in this poem. I also believe that the television is an ‘idiot box’ that needs to be urgently sabotaged for the children who spend too much time gazing at the television screen. The poem is a humorous one which warns us about a serious danger. The poet has vividly described the horrors of watching a monster-like, junk television and has given a simple solution to avoid it. He reminds the parents that before this nauseating machine was invented, the children used to only read and keep on reading books filled with fantasies and fairy tales. He feels that reading books is the only alternate replacement for the foul television. The poem ends on a note where the poet is seen requesting the parents to throw out the unclean, repulsive television and install a lovely bookshelf in place of it without thinking of its consequences as he assures them that the children will in future love them more for what they had done.

I hope it helps you. PL mark brainlist if you liked it

No I do not agree with the poet.

Television is necessary because in this period there are many educational , business etc . in the world . TV set should not be thrown out from the houses . Dahl mentions only the negative aspects of TV. TV has educational benefits and it is an audio visual medium and can help children learn by watching. However there is a need to maintain a balance between watching TV and other activities.
