When a body is immersed in a liquid, it occupies the space, which was earlier occupied by the liquid i.e., it displaces the liquid. The volume of liquid displaced by the body is equal to the volume of the submerged part of the body show the body experiences and thrust equal to the weight of the liquid displaced by it.
