Fibrous connective tissue having the fibers loosely arranged in a net or meshwork.
The areolar tissue located in the skin binds the outer layers of the skin to the muscles beneath. Areolar tissue is alsofound in or around mucous membranes, and around blood vessels, nerves, and the organs of the body

It is the basic and most widely distributed connective tissue in which fibres are loosely arranged in mesh work.

It matrix is Jelly like and contains 4 type of cells and three types of fibre.

Location :

Areolar tissue is Found below the skin in the Kidneys and testis and surrounds the muscle bundles blood vessels etc.

Functions :

It is a binding tissue.
It binds various tissues together in an organ.
It helps in the repair of body tissues after injury.
Mast cells are associated with allergic reactions.
