Naga Hoho the apex tribal body of Nagas in Nagaland has expressed concern over BJP led government’s move to scrap Article 370.

Naga Hoho president Chuba Ozukum said, “We are concerned about the move to scarp the article 370.This is really undemocratic and undermining the minorities. We have apprehension that if government of India can scarp 370 in Jammu and Kashmir it can remove 371(A) in Nagaland.”

BJP’s ally JD(United) has expressed concern on the BJP led government’s move. Senchumo Lotha Chairman of North East Executive Council (NEEC) of JDU expressed its surprise and resentment at the sudden move by the Union Home Minister for revocation of the Article 370 without any proper and rational discussion within the NDA alliance partners as a prelude to such a drastic action.

In a statement the party stated ever since the issue had been on the forefront several years ago, the JDU had stood opposed to this proposal tooth and nail.

Even at this moment, the JDU reiterates its stand and vehemently oppose the repeal of the Article and hereby convey its strong objection to the undergoing action which has come as an ambush to many citizens of the country who are faithful to the world’s largest democracy and its established norms. This sudden action comes as a threat to all the special provisions within the constitution of India, especially, for the North eastern states which has been under the folds of various concessional provisions. These privileges have been given recognition and incorporated into the Indian constitution because they are inalienable to the very existence of the people of this region. Therefore, protection of these privileges becomes a birth right.

It added that JDU hopes that good sense will prevail even at this moment and the NDA will give time for reasoning in the true spirit democracy.

Nagaland deputy chief minister Y Patton, who is also in charge of home department asked the people not to panic and assured that all measures would be taken to ensure that Nagas remain protected.

Patton along with state BJP president Temjen Imna Along and other BJP legislators, he would leave for New Delhi after the ongoing Parliament session gets over to meet Union home minister Amit Shah and discuss the issues of the state.

BJP’s ally in Tripura government Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT), opposed the proposal to revocation of Article 370.

Even Indigenous Nationalist Party of Tripura (INPT) opposed the proposal to revoke Article 370.
