  • What is asexual reproduction?
  • What is its characteristics?
  • what are Mode of asexual reproduction?

\boxed{\bf{\large{\ {\pink{ANSWER:-}}}}}

There are mainly 2 types of reproduction :-

  1. Asexual reproduction
  2. Sexual reproduction

According to question :-

Asexual reproduction :-

  • Asexual reproduction is the production of organism by single parent without the fusion of gamete.
  • Asexual reproduction is the simplest kind of reproduction.
  • This type of reproduction is common in unicellular reproduction.
  • Examples of organism which reproduce asexually are : - archaea, bacteria, amoeba, hydra, paramecium, plants, fungi, protozoa, etc.

Characteristics of asexual reproduction :-

  • Cell division is mitotically or amitotically.
  • Does not involve fusion of gamete.
  • Single parent involved.
  • It is a rapid mode of multiplication.

Mode of asexual reproduction :-

  • There are 6 modes of asexual reproduction.
  • They are :- Fission, Fragmentation, Regeneration, Budding, Vegetative propagation and Spore formation.
  • Fission :- In this mode of reproduction unicellular organism splits into two or more then two separate daughter cells. Eg :- Amoeba, Plasmodium.
  • Fragmentation :- In this mode of reproduction multicellular organisms breaks up into two orire fragments. Eg :- Spirogyra
  • Regeneration :- In this mode of reproduction an organism give rise to new individual organism form its own body. Eg :- Hydra
  • Budding :- In this mode of reproduction a daughter cell is formed by a small bud like projections. Eg :- Yeast
  • Vegetative propagation :- In this mode of reproduction new plants are obtained from a part of parent plant. Eg :- Potato, onion
  • Spore formation :- In this mode of reproduction have ability to germinate and can give rise to a new colony of their spices. Eg :- Rhizopus
