1. An eye defect in which observer cannot focus clearly on objects at any distance. The cause of astigmatism is the non-spherical Cornea. This defect can be corrected by using cylindrical lens of suitable curvature.
2. The defect of an optical system such as a lens or a mirror in which the horizontal and
vertical objects at the same distance from the lens are not focussed simultaneously.

Hi friend_______,

★ In this defect, the eye cannot see parallel and horizontal lines clearly.

★ It may be inherited or acquired.

★ It is due to the imperfect structure of eye lens due to the development of cataract on the lens, ulceration of cornea, injury to the refracting surfaces etc..

★ It is corrected by cylindrical lenses (Torrid lenses).

Thank you..
