"Atherosclerosis" is a disorder in which the arteries become narrow due to the deposition of lipids in their walls.

  • Artherosclerosis may be caused due to high LDL levels, Cytomegalovirus, Prolonged high blood pressure, Carbon monoxide, Smoking, High blood-glucose levels, etc.

  • Artherosclerosis can affect almost any artery but, the disease most often develops in the aorta, the coronary arteries and the cerebral arteries.

  • When atherosclerosis occurs in the cerebral arteries, less blood is delivered to the brain.
