1 Answer. The atmospheric refraction is defined as the phenomenon of refraction of light due to change in the refractive index at different level in atmosphere. Light gets refracted at different layers of atmosphere. The air just above the radiator becomes hotter than the air farther up.

Answer:

atmospheric refraction is caused by the bending of light rays when the passes through the earth atmosphere; which are different optical density. The light coming from the stars undergoes atmospheric refraction due to different optical density of air at various altitude.
