➝ The number of atoms present in a molecule of an element is known as the atomicity.

For example :- The number of atoms present in the molecules of oxygen $\rm\:O_2O2$ is 2 ,thus the atomicity of oxygen $\rm\:O_2O2$ is 2.It is said to be diatomic.

Similarly ozone $\rm\:O_3O3$ is triatomic.

$\rm\:P_4P4 and\rm\:S_8S8$are called polyatomic molecules.
