Answer ..

ATP is often termed as energy currency of The cell.

Abbreviation :

A - Adenosine

T - Tri

P- Phosphate

as the name suggests ATP is composed of 3 phosphate molecules.

Function in metabolism :

As it is termed as energy currency so it is obvious that its role would be related to the transfer of energy from one cell to another. It store lots of energy within the cell.

It has very small size but it mobility comparatively very large than that of its size which makes it very easy for the quick transfer of energy and various metabolic activities are made possible because of presence of ATP molecule itself.

It is precursor of RNA. So without ATP you cannot imagine the life as well as various metabolic activities in the body of the human being.

Answer: ATP is a relatively small molecule that serves as an energy intermediate in human metabolism. in essence, your cells extract the chemical energy from various nutrients, molecules like proteins, carbohydrates and use the chemical energy to make ATP.                                          i hope this will help you !
