Axon is a single very long cylindrical process of constant diameter.it arises from a conical projection called "Axon hillock" of cyton.the Cytoplasm of axon is called axoplasm and it is surrounded by plasma membrane that is called axolemma. It is the longest process of neuron from mm-m. It transfers the impulse from the cell body to another neuron or away from the cell body so it is called efferent process.Axon is branched with ends of many fine filament that is called telodendria. Also axon may give off lateral branch called collateral fibre.
Axon is of two types
1.Non-Myelinated or unmyelinated
2.Myelinated or Medullated

An axon or nerve fiber, is a long, slender projection of a nerve cell, or neuron, in vertebrates, that typically conducts electrical impulses known as action potentials away from the nerve cell body. The function of the axon is to transmit information to different neurons, muscles, and glands.
