about 15 billion year ago all matter in the universe was concentrated in one mass this super dense and extremely hot mass eventually exploded with a big bang and the matter was thrown around in all directions the universe started to get bigger does creating more space this lead to the formation of galaxies stars and other heavenly bodies this theory is called the Big Bang Theory
