It is when pollution is magnified through the food chain, For example, if a fish eats a portion of industrial waste it gets sick, then if a larger fish eats the smaller one she gets more sick, then an animal eats these fishes and it also gets sicker then finally if we eat such an animal we get very sick. This is known as biomagnification(proper word), the magnification of pollutants up the food chain.
