1. In case of micrometre screw gauge the backlash error is the error in which measurement due to backlash of the internal gears.In a pair of machine gears the distance between two space and tooth thickness is called as backlash.

2. Backlash error occurs in screw gauge, when we try to rotate the screw very fast to reading, toavoid this we should rotate the screw slowly in only one direction. Backlash should be avoided in case of measuring instruments like lead screw, screw gauge etc.
