Black phosphorus is the thermodynamically stable form ofphosphorus at room temperature and pressure

with a heat of formation of -39.3 kJ/mol relative to whitephosphorus which is defined as the standard state

Black Phosphorus is an allotropy of Phosphorus. This can be obtained by heating White phosphorous in 470 K at inert environment.

There are two types of Black phosphorus namely

  • Alpha-black phosphorus
  • beta-black phosphorus
