Hey there!

Carbylamine reaction:
 When we heat  aliphatic and aromatic primary amines with chloroform and ethanolic potassium hydroxide  then formation of isocyanides or carbylamines takes place. Isocyanides and carbylamines are foul smelling substances.This reaction is known as carbylamine reaction.

This reaction is not shown by secondary and tertiary amines.
This reaction is used as a test for primary amines.

R-NH2 + CHCl3 + 3KOH  ---(on heating)---> R-NC + 3KCl + 3H2O

Hope it helps!
