corrosion

It is the process in which metals are slowly eaten up by the action of air moisture or chemicals.

For example- rusting is a form of corrosion in which iron is eaten up by the action of air and moisture and a reddish brown coating of iron oxide is formed as shown in the following chemical reaction.

\huge\underline\mathfrak\green{Corrosion}:

Corrosion is the breakdown of materials due to chemical reactions.

  • It is usually oxidation with air molecules and often in the presence of water.

Corrosion also occurs when an acidic or basic material touches another material.

  • Problems with corrosion are mostly with metal, though other materials can corrode.
