A catalyst is a substance which is used to alter the speed of any chemical reaction without itself undergoing any chemical change and the whole phenonmenon is known as catalysis...
Types=
Positive catalyst
Negative catalyst
Auto catalyst
Induced catalyst
Promoters
Catalytic poisons..
hope this helps u!!!

✍️ A catalyst is a substance that can be added to a reaction to increase the reaction rate without getting consumed in the process.

✍️ Catalysis is the process of increasing the rate of a chemical reaction by adding a substance known as a catalyst, which is not consumed in the catalyzed reaction and can continue to act repeatedly. Because of this, only very small amounts of catalyst are required to alter the reaction rate in most cases.

✍️ TYPES AND CHARACTERISTIC OF CATALYSTS : (A) POSITIVE CATALYST : When a catalyst accelerates the rate of a reaction then it is called a positive catalyst. For example, the rate of decomposition of hydrogen peroxide gets increased in the presence of Manganese dioxide ; (B) NEGATIVE CATALYST : When a catalyst retards or decreases the rate of a reaction then it is called a negative catalyst. For example, Phosphoric acid retards the rate of decomposition of hydrogen peroxide.
