Catenation is the ability of an element, to combine with the same species of its atom covalently to form rings and chains. Carbon has highest catenation power in periodic table since it can form large amount of compunds. Eg=Benzene, Alkanes, Alkenes, Alkynes and many other aromatic compounds.
