Chemosynthetic autotrophs are the organisms which can synthesise their food from inorganic substances. e.g. Some bacteria are capable of oxidising inorganic substances like nitrates, nitrites and ammonia. The energy released during the oxidation process of these substances is utilised to synthesise ATP molecules.

The organisms that can synthesize their own food are known as autotrophs. Those organisms which can synthesize complex organic materials from inorganic substances are known as chemosynthetic autotrophs. Some bacteria have the ability to oxidize inorganic substances like nitrate, nitrites and ammonia. The  energy released during this process is used to synthesize ATP molecules.
