They are compounds used in fridges, AC and aerosols. They damage the ozone layer in the atmosphere, causing an increase in the amount of UV rays from sun reaching the earth. In the recent past a thinning of this layer, called the Ozone hole, was seen to occur over Antarctica every spring. These UV rays can cause skin cancer and damage to eyes. Thankfully, CFCs are now being replaced by other compounds and the damage to ozone layer has been replaced.....
