Movement. Once the stomach has transformed your food into a fairly liquefied state, the digested food is ready to move into the small intestine. The churning of your stomach helps to push this liquid material, called chyme, toward the lower part of your stomach.

Churning mainly refers to the movements which occur in stomach during digestion,they are also said as peristaltic movements or peristalsis

Contracting and relaxing Nature of the muscular layers of stomach leads to wave like movements which causes the food to be moved forwards in the gastrointestinal tract
