The tournament might be played as two parts as the initial rounds of tournament might be of a basis while the final rounds may be on another basis. It maybe a sports tournament which is played on league or zonal basis. The participation at zonal or league basis might be on the basis of points and the winners from each zone or league play on the final round which can be a knockout round and thus the overall winners are determined on the basis of combined results of both initial rounds and final rounds.
