when one social group is given more importance than the other and when one considers itself above the others, its is known as communalism. Communalism can be there in religious groups, different castes, gender, etc. Due to communalism, the path of democracy is hindered as people start feeling alienated. The minorities feel alienated which is not democracy. Communalism leads to social dovisions where the different social groups don't cooperate with each other and start hating each other. This hurts the equality of the nation. Democracy gives equality but communalism divides people. Therefore, we can say that communalism hinder the path of democracy.
