  • he went where he could find work.

  • the man who built this house owns the car which you saw.

a complex sentence in its simplest form contains a main clause and one subordinate clause, which may be a noun, adjective, or adverb clause; as,

  • I earn whatever I can.

  • the place where the accident occurred is nearby.

  • the children dance while the Piper played.

usually when a long sentence is given for analysing, detailed analysis is not required.

In such a case the student is asked to give what is called clause analyses ; that is ,
