When a beam of high energy electrons collide with a target the scattered radiation experiences an increase in wavelength.This phenomenon is called Compton effect. The increase in wavelength of the scattered electrons is given by,

Compton scattering , discovered by Arthur Holly compton ,is the scattering of a photon by a charge particle, usually an electrons. It results in a decrease in energy of the photon called the Compton effect .
