Features of the nnortherm forest are:-

1. The northern or temperate coniferous forest is also known as Taiga or North wood.

2. It is also known as needle leaf forest.

3. It is situated immediately South of the tundra.

4. Distributed over 1700 to 3000 m altitude in himalaya.

5. Annual rain fall is 50 - 170 cm/year.

6. The average winter temperature is 6°C and 20°C in summer.

7. The evergreen temperate forests are found on Himalaya.

8. Vegetation:- Pines, Silver fir, Hemolock, Spruce, Deodar, Cypress.
