momentum of a substance is conserved in an isolated system. That is if external force = 0 , then momentum is constant. It does not change.
Let m1 and m2 be the initial and the final momentum respectively. Then v1 and v2 are the initial and final velocity.
According to law of conservation of momentum,
m1v1 = m2v2
( p = mv)
