It is said that one variable varies directly as the other. The formula for direct variation is y=kx y= k x , where k is the constant of variation. Solve the equation for k , the constant of variation. Replace the variables x and y with the actual values.

Consider three variables which will show variation -
Volume, Area, Pressure.
● Which will be constant - Volume.
● Why not Area & Pressure ? - Area may vary because pressure will vary when it will be exerted in certain points.
So, a variable which will remain constant (fixed) by enabling the other two variables to get vary from condition to condition , is called a constant variable but the process is constant of variation.
