The conurbation (union of several cities that have become, practically, a single urban area), with few clear borders between the city. Not to say that it is something planned or decided, most of the time it is happening with real estate and population growth of this set of cities.
Over time there is this physical union between cities, despite their separation at the political level (each has a mayor and its own organization).
Generally, the conurbation results in a metropolitan region, in which there is a nucleus quite populated and the neighboring areas less populated.
Thus looking at cities in which this phenomenon occurs is very difficult to find the divisions between where one begins and the other ends.
